Outback at Isa are sourcing authentic content, that locals have taken themselves, allowing the genuine images to make the best impression of Mount Isa.
Business manager, Angi Matveyeff, said when she moved to Mount Isa she realised there wasn’t a lot of online content in regards to Mount Isa being a travel destination.
“There was no online content and I mean images or videos,” Ms Matveyeff said.
“There was also no online chatter about things to do in Mount Isa or the Mount Isa experience, so we can change that collectively. We looked at the interstate Queensland market and one of our staff members came up with the concept of sharing Mount Isa’s ‘dirty little secrets’.
“So it is a bit fun and naughty and the idea snowballed from there. Once we had the concept and the catchy little captions like outback snorkeling and dusting dirt. It all fell into place.”
The photos for the competition can include any experiences around Mount Isa. The conditions of the competition are you can enter as many times as you like but only one image per day.
“So entrants send in their photo with their caption and #OutbackDirt and we repost it on our social media pages,” Ms Matveyeff said.
“We have already had 36 entries and we are already getting great, quality images. It is exciting to see what people will come up with and entries do not close until June, so there is still plenty of time to enter.”
All images will be judged by three individuals from local businesses and the winner will win a double swag and potentially have their image used to promote Mount Isa. In conjunction to the competition, Outback at Isa have applied for a Regional Tourism Award for marketing and will hear the results in October.
"Mount Isa isn’t known in the North West region as a holiday destination. We would like the community to get behind this to help showcase a positive image and what we have to offer to bring in tourism to town.”
