It is part of a series of monthly forums the Queensland Country Life is running across key Queensland regional centres to discuss issues that are relevant to rural and regional Queenslanders.
Previous forums have taken place in Toowoomba, Quilpie and Beaudesert and future ones are planned for Charters Towers and Blackall, among other locations.
As the name of the forum would suggest, the aim of Grow Queensland is to engage in discussion about how we can promote growth in the state.
The discussion will cover four pillars of potential growth: agriculture, youth resilience, our towns and health and well-being.
The panel has been chosen with those pillars in mind.
On the panel will be Greg Campbell, Mayor of Cloncurry, Phil Barwick, Deputy Mayor of Mount Isa, Don McDonald, MDH Holdings, Paul Woodhouse, chair of North West Hospital and Health Board, Justice King, youth health advocate, Tom Kennedy of Elders, Kim Hughes of the Isolated Childrens Parents Association, as well as representatives from Rabobank, RFDS and QRAA.
There will be a roundtable discussion with plenty of time available for audience interaction.
The forum is free and will be moderated by Brad Cooper, our Queensland group managing editor.
It starts at 3pm on Thursday, May 12 at the Cloncurry Community Precinct and is scheduled to end at 5.30pm.
It will be followed by a free barbecue dinner provided by Rabobank.
If you want to come along, please RSVP by Tuesday to Krysten Tomlin at krysten.tomlin@fairfaxmedia.com.au.
I look forward to seeing you there and being part of a useful and lively discussion.
If you cannot make the forum but there is a burning question related to regional growth you would like to ask our panel, feel free to email the editor of the North West Star at derek.barry@fairfaxmedia.com.au
