The property was scheduled to be auctioned by Elders on May 25.

The rolling term lease was offered by Australian Pastoral Group (APG) which is divesting itself of its rural assets in Queensland and NSW. 

APG chief executive officer Campbell Hayes confirmed a contract had been signed saying his company had decided to accept an attractive pre-auction offer from a well qualified buyer. 

Mr Hayes said both the identity of the buyer and sale price remained confidential.

“They will do well with Neumayer,” Mr Hayes told Queensland Country Life.

“It is a wonderful property and really the best property in the Gulf.

“Knowing the buyer, I do not think we will see the property back on the market for a long, long time to come. They will do well.” 

Rumours have been circulating for more than a week that a deal was close to being struck with a foreign investor. A price tag of about $40 million had also been rumoured. 

APG has already sold Kinbeachie at Goondiwindi to the Cargill owned entity One Tree. APG is also in the process of selling the noted southern NSW property Deltroit Station at Gundagai through an expressions of interest process which closes on May 19. 

Neumayer was offered with 15,560 branded cattle plus followers, mostly high grade Brahman types and an extensive list of station plant including a grader, front end loader and a Cessna 206 aircraft.

The property features an abundant natural waters including a single frontage to the Leichhardt River on the western boundary and double frontage to the Alexandra River which includes a permanent 19km long waterhole at the homestead.

Neumayer largely comprises of level blacksoil plains and river frontage country, mostly open with areas of woodland, including coolibah, gutta percha and bauhinia. It is generally well covered by Mitchell and spear grass plus annuals, button grass and Flinders grass. The property is interspersed with gidyea scrubs and red soil slopes running to gravelly spinifex ridges with scattered rocky outcrops and timbered by silver leaf box, snappy gum, bloodwood and wattle.
