TOWN were sharpest off the block at Alex Inch Oval on Saturday and scored their first try within three minutes, duly converted by Marty Paulson.
They doubled their lead in the next set of six and it looked at this stage as if the game come be an annihilation.
All credit then to Brothers who slowly clawed their way back into the contest after a shake start.
After a couple of good sets, they made their pressure pay with a try under the posts on 14 minutes to make it 12-6.
Town re-grouped and had a spell of pressure of their own which led to their third try, Paulson doing the honours again with the boot to make the score 18-6.
It was still a fairly close contest at this stage of the game and had Brothers scored next their tails would have been up.
But indiscipline in their ranks led to two successive high tackles and though they avoiding a sin binning, they conceded a try on the next tackle and found themselves 24-6 down.
But indiscipline in their ranks led to two successive high tackles and though they avoiding a sin binning, Brothers conceded a try on the next tackle and found themselves 24-6 down.
Townies number nine crossed for his second try of the game to make matters 30-6 thoughts Brothers had the last say of the half with an unconverted try making matters 30-10 at the break.
Townies started the second half with a shambles, a short kick off that failed to make the 10m.
They were unlucky to be penalised a forward pass when they put on the afterburners shortly afterwards but were not to be denied the first try of the half to put them in strong winning position at 36-10.
Townies gave the ball straight back to Brothers who grabbed a converted try to give them hope.
But Brothers were unable to put two straight tries together all day and with the sides swapping a few more tries, Townies went on to a comfortable victory.
Final score Town 50, Brothers 20.
