The Executive Director of Nursing at NWHHS Michelle Garner said the hospital decided to reward both a Mount Isa-based nurse and a remote nurse.
“I’m delighted to announce the winners as Andrea Mitchell, based in Mount Isa, and Joanne Gabbert, who is based in Cloncurry,” Ms Garner said.
Ms Mitchell was awarded her prize for winning Mount Isa-based Nurse of the Year via video link on Thursday.
She had just returned from doing outreach work in Doomadgee.
Ms Gabbert was presented with a giant cheque in Cloncurry on Thursday.
Ms Garner said there were 19 nominees for the Nurse of the Year award, nominated by 39 different people.
“We were very pleased with the response and very grateful to QSuper for their generous prize money,” Ms Garner said.
