MITS actors will don bandannas and leather jackets on Friday for the opening night of Othello.
Director Jenelle Robartson said she had the idea of changing the context of the Shakespeare classic to make it more modern and approachable.
“I chose bikie gangs because they’re in the news, everyone knows about them, and it fits the story really well,” Ms Robartson said.
The play was in rehearsal for six weeks, and saw actors embrace both the flowery language of Shakespeare and the tough exteriors of bikies.
Othello will run for four weekends at the Theatrical Society Theatre on Transmission Street.
Curtains will close on Othello on Sunday June 12.
Tickets are available from Impulse Boutique.
