The pace is really picking up as preparations are being finalised for this year’s Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo which kicks off on Friday, August 12.
We are on a high following last week’s announcement the Isa Rodeo has been granted major events status by the State Government, which helps with our goal of making the event one of the best in the world. We have a new board and a strong team focussed on growing our event and strengthening the visitor experience.
Our plans include a Hungry Jack’s Rodeo School for bronc riders during rodeo week, and a surprise entertainment act we hope will be popular with locals and visitors and school kids. We are introducing a Pop Up Tent City to complement accommodation choices already available and will also be a great option if you have friends or relatives visiting but can’t fit them in your house.
The Pop Up Tent City will provide two person tents, already set up for you – along with all bedding, linen, lighting and camp chairs provided. The price also includes a cooked breakfast on Saturday and Sunday of rodeo weekend, so we think it’s great value.
Also new this year will be scenic helicopter tours with a 10 minute CBD flight or longer flight to Lake Moondarra taking off from Buchanan Park during the rodeo.
Back this year by popular demand will be a limited number of “behind the scenes” chute tours, available only to Gold Class seating holders.
Please do get in quickly if you would like to try our Gold Class seating (reserved seating), as these seats are limited and are already more than one-third sold out – very popular due to their prime position opposite the chutes.
Our entertainment line-up is creating a buzz with Melbourne-based country rockers Dreek Creek Road kicking off after Friday night’s famous Mardi Gras parade and CMC star Mick Lindsay debuting his brand new show to rock the rodeo stage on Saturday night. Rounding out the entertainment will be Torrie Darke and Karrie Hayward.
Our ticket price will remain the same as last year, as we try to focus on keeping our event fresh but also affordable. If you buy a daily ticket for Friday or Saturday, this also includes our live music concerts so I am sure you’ll agree it’s amazing value!
