Oliver's current deal wasn't due to expire until October 2017 but, after only six games, the Demons have wasted little time in extending the 18-year-old's stay at AAMI Park.
Last year's No.4 draft pick has made a sparkling start to his career, averaging 19 disposals, nine contested possessions and five tackles.
Oliver said it was a "pretty good feeling" to re-sign with the club.
"I'm really happy to be a part of the club for the next few years," he said.
"It was a very easy decision. My manager said 'just go with it', and I did.
"I thought I'd get it out of the way and get it done with because I was going to sign eventually."
Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney said the club was "very happy" to have secured Oliver for the immediate future.
"We look forward to watching his development over that period and beyond," he said.
"We will continue to manage his loads at training and games this year, as he learns to cope with the demands of AFL."
Oliver's best display of his enormous potential to date came in round three when he racked up 26 disposals (13 contested), seven clearances and two goals against North Melbourne.
