Thomas was banned for one game following the incident after accepting the match review panel's penalty.

The suspension was a contentious one, with North Melbourne coach Brad Scott suggesting that Thomas had paid for previous misdemeanours, while teammate Drew Petrie questioned whether his fellow forward had been a victim of "trial by media".

Speaking on Monday, Thomas said he would not be altering his style. "No not at all. The tackle was an accident. It was a high tackle, we move on quickly, but I haven't changed anything out of my game."

Bulldog Marcus Bontempelli told Fox Sports the morning after the Hunter incident that the Dogs were unhappy with Thomas' act, claiming that there had been "malice" involved.

Thomas said he hadn't heard the criticism. "I just copped my suspension and moved on," he said.

Thomas said he was glad to be back playing for the unbeaten Roos, who enter Friday night's match away to Sydney two games clear on top of the ladder.

"I copped my suspension and I had to train hard. I love playing football and I love being on-field with the guys and just enjoying my footy at the moment."

Thomas was speaking at the launch of North's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), an initiative in which he has been heavily involved.

Thomas said fellow Indigenous North player Daniel Wells trained lightly on Monday morning, and was a chance to return from the Achilles issue which kept him out of Saturday night's win over Carlton.

Friday night's SCG encounter is the opening match of this year's Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous round. Thomas said both the AFL and his club had taken positive steps in building a bridge between black and white Australia. "The last couple of years we've really made a focus of it at this footy club in particular," he said.

"It's definitely a proud moment in my career to be involved in [the RAP].

Thomas, Wells and fellow Indigenous Roo Jed Anderson were joined by North's former Indigenous stars Barry Cable, Jim Krakouer, Phil Krakouer and Byron Pickett.

"Being part of this football club, with such a rich history of Indigenous players, I feel like I have to give back. I'm a very proud Aboriginal person. Very proud to be at this footy club with such a rich history," Thomas said.

"I think the AFL's doing a good job at the minute. Obviously with racism we want to stamp that out, not just in football, but in general. We're getting there, but there's still a lot of work to do"
