Swimming instructor Julie Spreadborough said she used the Motor Inn’s swimming pool for swimming lessons for competitive stroke swimmers for a small fee paid to owner Glen Ashmore, who donated the sum of money to the Mount Isa Isolated Children’s Parents Association (ICPA).
“I contribute [a certain amount of] money [to the Inn] and Glen’s been kind enough to donate that money from The Motor Inn straight to the charity,” Ms Spreadborough said.
ICPA treasurer Tina Barrett said the longest lasting achievement of the ICPA was Sports for Bush Kids.
“Initially [Sports for Bush Kids was] focusing on swimming tuition, but soon expanded to include coaching in many of the team sports of which our children would need to be skilled in once at boarding school,” she said.
