Race 1
This is a great way to start the meeting and a number of these horses could end up in Brisbane for the JJ Atkins.
Skylight Glow was excellent at Canterbury last start and any improvement on that effort will put her right in this race. The wide draw could suit with the rail out three minutes.
Flow regressed somewhat second-up and Godolphin have struggled to get more than two good runs out of their two-year- olds this season.
Acatour is the other obvious contender and he will likely get the last crack at them down the outside.
Race 2
This is probably the most disappointing Highway Plate since the concept started.
Wonderbolt is a horse with genuine city form and he is a short sprinter specialist, but he does not win out of turn.
Beau Tirage is in the same boat and has had his chances in these races before. Star Shaft is another non-winner, but he does have the most scope to improve of the three leading chances.
Race 3
Pioneering is on the quick back-up and this looks like a more suitable race. It was only the talented duo of Spieth and King's Troop that beat him last start and he will appreciate the return to Randwick.
As the market suggests, Roeinda is the main danger. The inside barrier draw is far from ideal and he will need some luck in running, but there was plenty to like about his Denise's Joy Stakes effort.
Bold Beginning will improve second-up, while this is interesting placement from Tony Gollan with Dee Nine Elle.
Race 4
This is a very open race and there are a couple of horses at double-figure odds that appeal.
Sonorous is set to make his Australian racing debut and there is plenty to like about his form in New Zealand.
He was excellent in the Championships Stakes last start and I like the fact he already has a run under his belt at 2000 metres. He is big overs at his current price.
Colonel Custer is the other outsider that appeals after he performed strongly in his first start for new trainer Bjorn Baker. He is not a proven winner, but he will handle the step-up in trip and he has always been a horse with plenty of talent.
Race 5
The presence of the resuming I Am Zelady and Oxford Poet add plenty of interest to this race.
I Am Zelady went to another level last preparation and she was outstanding in the Magic Millions Fillies and Mares Handicap, while Oxford Poet has trialled well and generally performs strongly fresh.
Inz'n'out has proven a frustrating horse for punters in recent times and there is definitely a question mark over him at that price, especially from the inside barrier.
Race 6
This is another open betting race. This is a drop back in class for Bjorn Baker-trained Sangiovese following her fifth at Scone last start and she has opened as favourite, but I would prefer to be with Trois Choix.
She hit a new career peak to win last start, she has trialled in excellent fashion between races and she is undefeated in two starts at Royal Randwick. She has form around a number of very handy mares and she is the horse to beat.
Bonete does not win out of turn, but she can improve on her first-up effort.
Race 7
He is at a very short price, but it is tough to see Raw Impulse getting beaten.
Raw Impulse has produced three flawless efforts since he made his Australian racing debut and he has got better each time that he has stepped up in trip. He is clearly the horse with the most upside in this field and he could develop into just about anything.
Havana Cooler is the horse to beat in favourite-out markets.
He has performed well at his past two starts and he was placed over this track and distance in The Metropolitan in the spring.
Race 8
Dance Of Heroes is on the quick back-up following his victory last weekend and there is no reason why he can't win again. Chris Waller has an excellent record when he drops his horses back in trip and the Danehill Dancer gelding is the fittest horse in this race.
Duca Valentinois was disappointing last start, but he has also been dropped back in trip and he deserves another chance.
You never know what Himalaya Dream can produce and he is slightly over the odds at his current price of $18.
Race 9
Caped Crusader is knocking on the door of a victory and Gai Waterhouse may have found the right race for him. He is on the quick back-up, the step up from 1200 metres will suit and Adam Hyeronimus will have plenty of options from barrier four.
Bullrush has done nothing wrong during his racing career to date. This is easily the toughest test that he has faced, but the stable is flying and the wide draw will be an advantage at this stage of the day.
Invinzabeel can improve significantly second-up and Glyn Schofield is another hoop that will have plenty of options in the early stages of the race.
