Jonathan Pavetto is a local
Please allow me to correct the assumption of Mr Brett McGuire (Northern Miner, May 20) that the Liberal National Party’s candidate for the federal seat of Kennedy, Jonathan Pavetto is not a local.

His family has been farming sugar in the Ingham district since 1892, and he grew up on the family farm.
Mr Pavetto attended primary and secondary school in Ingham, he represented North Queensland in sport and was awarded the Hinchinbrook Shire Young Australian of the Year in recognition of his dedication to the Ingham Community.
This talented young man while attending school, chaired the Hinchinbrook Youth Council and attended the Queensland Youth Parliament for two years.
Later, he represented Australian Youth at The Hague, while at University in New York.
During his time with Canegrowers, Jonathan’s negotiating skills were highly developed, dealing with local, State and Federal Governments representing agricultural interests.
He also dealt with electricity pricing, transport regulations, land management and sugar marketing – a strong background to have, for a politician.
Not only does he have a rural background, but is a proven leader.
Do you really want to see a return to the anti-North Queensland Policies of the Rudd-Gillard-Rudd Government?
Think about it, vote Jonathan Pavetto and give Kennedy a strong advocate in Canberra.

Every Cup Counts
Thank you to the thousands of Queenslanders who tipped the balance in the fight against cancer by raising their cups for Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea during May.
More than 5800 hosts around the state of Queensland gathered in living rooms, community centres, schools, and workplaces to help us try and raise more than $2.5 million for lifesaving research, support, and education.
On behalf of Cancer Council Queensland I would like to commend all the individuals, employers, and media outlets who put on the kettle for the cause.
Through the simple act of sharing a morning tea, you have provided vital hope to all Queenslanders affected by cancer.
And our cause has never been more important.
One person is diagnosed with cancer every 20 minutes in Queensland.
All of us know someone who has been devastated by the disease.
Every dollar goes directly towards supporting those in need.
With your generosity we will continue to proudly serve all Queenslanders, and all cancers.
If you haven’t yet hosted an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea – it’s not too late.
Hosts can hold a morning tea anytime throughout May or June.
Go to biggestmorningtea.com.au or phone 1300 65 65 85.
Every cup counts in our fight for a cancer free future.
