Byrne-Jones, 20, had 23 possessions and kicked a goal in the Power's 45-point win over Melbourne in Alice Springs on Saturday.
Byrne-Jones has averaged 17.8 disposals in his eight games since making his debut against Essendon in round three.
A third-round selection in the 2013 draft, Byrne-Jones was recruited from the Camberwell Junior Football Club and the Oakleigh Chargers. He represented Vic Metro in the 2013 under-18 championships.
He has made the most of his opportunity after two consistent seasons with the Port Magpies in the SANFL under coach Garry Hocking.
Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley said Byrne-Jones had played eight of the best first games you could see.
"Darcy has been really solid for us over the past eight games," he said.
"But you can only reach that sort of form when you've been consistent for weeks and I've said before that Darc had a really strong pre-season.
"He's had eight really good games and deserves to be recognised for last week's performance. He just does the team thing every week and from that perspective he's been really good for us."
Byrne-Jones was a stand-out at the 2013 draft combine, finishing in the top 10 of the three-kilometre time trial, the shuttle (beep) test, 20-metre sprint, agility and repeat sprints.
