Under 14s and 16s and 18s players from a number of Mount Isa’s rugby league clubs have starred for the Northern outback representative side at the Arthur Beetson Foundation Outback Carnival Challenge on May 28 at Winton, earning themselves selection in Queensland Outback squads in the process.

In the under 14s, Wanderers’ players Hayden Andrews, Peter Backo, Tully Barritt, Brayden Jones, and Darcy Ryder were selected alongside Black Stars players Joshua Egan, Kynan Evans, Trent Laffin, James Moloney, Ethan Roberts and Jackson Siemer.
In the under 16s Black Stars players Gordon Barry, Clayton Fenton, Darcy McDonald, Suliano Filise Matanibulalevu and Pasini Pasini were selected. Wanderers players Christian Aplin, Caleb Henley, Malik Luff, Steven Numambo and Diega Teaukura were picked for the team. Brothers players Malachi Retchford, Troy Kumsing, William Dempsey and Allan Clark also were included in the squad.
In the under 18s age division Black Stars had Brennan Aplin, Mahana Ellison, and Jekope Kauvere earned their place in the squad, alongside Brothers Kye Aplin, Royston Connelly, and Phillip Roos. Wanderers’ players Michael Pengilly and Dwight Daley were also picked, with Cloncurry player Gavin Crisp also inlcuded in the squad.
The Queensland Outback under 14s, 16s and 18s representative squads will play at the Glyn Rees City-Country Cultural exchange Carnival at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast on June 24-26.
