Cloncurry Shire Council CEO David Neeves has resigned after four years in the top job.

Cloncurry Shire Council released a statement saying following a mutual agreement between Mr Neeves and Council, he would resign on July 6 following a period of annual leave.
Mayor Greg Campbell paid tribute to the departing CEO.
“Since commencing with Cloncurry Shire Council in August 2012, David has made a significant contribution to navigating this Council through challenging times,” Cr Campbell said.
“David has been a highly valued member of the Council team and the community during this time.
David’s skills and knowledge have been invaluable to the operation of the Council and to the delivery of many key infrastructure projects including the Bypass and Ramsay Street Upgrades.”
Cr Campbell said Mr Neeves led the Council through a period of significant capital growth with the upgrades to the Airport and Showgrounds.
“This term of Council needs to be a term of consolidation and balance, and is committed to a change in direction,” he said.

“On behalf of the councillors, staff and the Cloncurry community, I sincerely thank David and his family for their valued contribution, to Council and the community and wish David and his family all the best in future endeavours.”
Council confirmed that the shire’s Director of Corporate Services Lisa Caldwell has also resigned.
Council said it would begin the recruitment process for a new CEO “in the near future”.
Mr Neeves arrived at Cloncurry Shire Council with past experience in smaller, rural towns.
He came from Gilgandra in Central West New South Wales with many years of local government experience under his belt.
