We are very proud and grateful to have these Australian rodeo champions who are willing to share their incredible skills and experience with young and upcoming riders, and for the ongoing support of Hungry Jack’s Mount Isa.
The bull riding instructor is Kyogle-based Dave Kennedy, who recently retired after a stellar career which saw him compete regularly in the United States as well as win the Open Bull Ride at the Isa Rodeo and Isa PBR. Dave also represented Australia in the PBR World Finals and won his fourth national title in 2014. His clinic will focus on improving technique and mental attitude which is crucial to success, Dave says.
The current Australian Bullfighting Champion Mitch Russell, 28, from Maitland, NSW, will share his skills with budding bullfighters.
The Hungry Jack’s Rodeo School is an initiative of the Isa Rodeo’s organisers, the Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo Inc (MIRRI) board in partnership with the Australian Professional Rodeo Association (APRA).
We saw how keen many Outback youths and young adults were to learn rodeo skills but often didn’t have access to facilities, stock or experienced teachers. By attending a Hungry Jack’s Isa Rodeo School they can learn a controlled and professional environment and be taught by champions. It also wouldn’t happen without the ongoing support of Hungry Jack’s Mount Isa, who are keen to support junior sports development through the rodeo school.
To register, please contact the Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo office by emailing admin@isarodeo.com.au or call 4743 2706.
We’ve also had a busy week with two members of the famous Australian Ashton circus family in town to promote the free circus shows and circus workshops everyone holding a rodeo ticket can attend during the rodeo weekend.
Don’t forget all tickets, tours and accommodation is on sale now via our website, including a special locals offer where you receive free entry for two children with every two adult tickets purchased.
