Katter antics no laughing matter
Those of us who have lived in the Kennedy electorate for some years are used to the headline hunting antics from the Federal Member for Kennedy, Bob Katter.

Most are quite harmless and just plain silly, and often we pass them off as, “Well that’s Bob.”
But his latest action in producing and running a paid advertisement is very serious.
The content is a disgrace, and it is so refreshing to see both sides of politics stand up together and condemn his latest and disgusting outburst.
There are two parts of this advertisement which disgust me.
First, you see Mr. Katter with a smoking gun and the Australian Labor Party and Liberal National Party candidates lying dead on the ground.
The implication is that Mr. Katter has just shot dead his two political opponents because he disagreed with them.
Because you disagree with a political opponent the Katter advertisement implies that you can shoot and kill them.
What message does this send to the general public particularly young people?
How does this impact on our troops who are overseas risking their life and limb defending our democratic system and fighting those regimes which act in this way?
The other part of the advertisement which disgusts me, is that at a time when the world is still mourning the deaths of those 49 innocent people in Orlando, when world leaders are united in searching for ways to stop such killings, we have our Federal Member coming out with such an advertisement.
Again I repeat, what message does this send to the general public, particularly our young people.
But then to have to sit and watch Mr Katter on the Channel 7 morning program claiming to Sunrise host David Koch that he was not aware of what had happened in Orlando because quote, “I am too busy to read papers or watch the TV.”
Does anybody really believe that a Federal member of Parliament doesn’t watch TV or read newspapers, or more to the point does anybody really want a Member of Parliament who is not aware of what happened in Orlando or what is happening around the world?
Some people may believe Mr. Katter that it was all done in jest.
I would suggest to those people that they examine the implications it could have on those people who are easily led.
Mr Katter is supposed to be leader and to see him on T.V. pretending to shoot and kill his political opponents, to me, makes him unworthy of having the title Member of the Australian Parliament after his name.
If we re-elect this man on Saturday, July 2 I believe that we deserve everything we get from him in the future and we will be tarnished as hillbillies.
After this action by our Federal Member, I would appeal to the good people of the Kennedy electorate to send a message to Mr Katter in the language that he knows best and put him last on the ballot paper.
