If it can be manufactured, it is only fitting and a significant appearance in Pavlich's season-long 2016 farewell tour.

His hectic itinerary over the next three months should include an outing on the game's Mecca and engagement with a high profile Friday night footy audience.

Understandably, the 346-game veteran is headed for strict medical assessment in his recovery over just six days from an impressive four-goal and 15-possession outing in a 17-point Dockers win over Port Adelaide in Perth on Saturday.

He's got to do everything possible to make a grand finale at the "G" as part of an ambitious marketing plan to get the Dockers' greatest ever player fittingly recognised through what is already a curtain-call season, after it was widely assumed Pavlich would retire last year.

His appearance calculations must also address potentially emotion-charged send-off engagements in home games somewhere through rounds 19-21 against Sydney, arch derby enemy West Coast and rising premiership threat Adelaide.

He can miss with strategic "rest" trips to Darwin to play Melbourne straight out of the Dockers bye after confronting the Pies, as well as probably another travelling appointment against Gold Coast at Metricon at the end of next month.

The famous MCG is Pavlich's finest stage away from his cherished home ground in Perth.

He has made 32 treks onto the hallowed turf for 85 goals and collected 22 Brownlow votes of an overall tally of 124 he has racked up through his 17-season career.

Pavlich has played more often at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium, with 48 appointments under the roof for 91 goals, and attracted only 11 Brownlow votes.

Still, probably the greatest ever single engagement Pavlich turned on, among so many outstanding performances, was on the MCG leading his Dockers to buck the odds and beat a more fancied Geelong to bundle the then reigning premiers from the flag race in 2012.

Pavlich set a demonstrative response to the famous Cats defence, with six goals from 14 possessions including nine marks.

He had banked three of his majors to just the 19-minute mark of the first term and his Dockers were 32 points up.

He closed out the upset victory with his sixth in a running field goal to snuff out a late Cats surge after it had been widely expected that Fremantle would depart the finals at their first attempt since Lyon's controversial recruitment almost a year earlier to the day.

Another significant "G" outing was a whopping nine-goal haul from 19 disposals and nine marks over Carlton in round 16 back in 2005.

Pavlich exposed a stunning diversity in his all-round talents earlier in his accomplished career, with a best-afield 25 possession outing and two goals in a stirring win over North Melbourne at the "G" late into 2003, as the Dockers headed a first ever finals campaign under then coach Chris Connolly.

Everything must be done to put the big attraction back onto the biggest stage for one last MCG appearance from the greatest Dockers achiever.

It's an appealing attraction, on evidence from Saturday's vibrant leading, strong marking and surer goal-front finishing than at any other stage of a disastrous Dockers season.

Pavlich playing on Friday night at the "G" against a battling Magpies heightens prospects of a fourth straight Dockers win in continued revival from a shocking nine consecutive losses to start the home-and-away season.
