On Wednesday afternoon, P&O Cruises told reporters "his condition has improved and he is no longer listed as critical".
Three locals, including a heavily pregnant woman, died and 10 Australians were injured when a tour bus collided with a local bus on Monday afternoon.
On Wednesday, police were still waiting for the driver of the tour bus to be released from hospital to charge him with reckless driving causing death.
Vanuatu police acting assistant commissioner Songi George Andrews told Fairfax Media the driver of the tour bus had allegedly swerved to the wrong side of the road pretending to hit some people on the side of the road before colliding with the other bus.
An Australian 11-year-old suffered critical injuries in the crash but Carnival Cruises spokesman David Jones told the Seven Network there were encouraging signs about the boy's recovery.
"We are hearing encouraging news about the 11-year-old boy who was taken to Noumea with head injuries," he said.
"He is in a room with his mum and they are being looked after together. He has told his mum, `Don't worry about me'."
A woman in her 70s was fighting for life in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital on Wednesday morning.
A husband and wife, also in their 70s, remained stable with multiple fractures.
The final Australian patient, a woman, was due in to the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Wednesday afternoon for treatment to lower limb injuries.
She would join a 77-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman in a stable condition.
A young patient, believed to be just four years old, was taken to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital with two family members on Tuesday.
The group was in Vanuatu as part of a cruise on P&O's Pacific Dawn, owned by Carnival Australia.
Most of the Australians, including a four-year-old girl and an elderly couple, were airlifted to Brisbane on Tuesday afternoon and overnight with non-life threatening injuries.
Police and Carnival Australia are investigating the crash and the operator has suspended dealing with the tour bus company pending a finding.
