Not even their round 22 clash against the ladder-leading Cronulla Sharks could make it onto Channel 9, with games between St George Illawarra and Brisbane, Manly and Parramatta, and Wests and North Queensland preferred when the final six rounds of the NRL were announced on Friday.

One plus is the Raiders get a Sunday afternoon home game against the Parramatta Eels on August 21.

Meanwhile, Raiders coach Ricky Stuart predicts departing prop Frank-Paul Nuuausala "will be a hit in Wigan" and says a move to the Super League was a "fitting way to end" a successful career.

The former New Zealand international has signed a 3½-year deal with Wigan and was expected to leave for England when he receives his visa in the next few weeks.

Nuuausala joined the Raiders last season after winning the NRL premiership with the Sydney Roosters in 2013 and playing 15 Tests for the Kiwis.

The 29-year-old told the playing group of his decision to leave Canberra early – he was contracted until the end of 2017 – to continue his career in the north of England.

Nuuausala hasn't played for the Raiders since the round-seven loss to the Sharks at Canberra Stadium.

Stuart has played a big role in Nuuausala's career, having recruited him to the Roosters when he was the coach there.

After eight seasons there, he then teamed up again with Stuart in Canberra.

"He's going to a very high-profile club, he's very excited about it and I think it will be a very fitting way to end what's been a very successful career for him. He's an international player that's won a competition," he said of Nuuausala's move to Wigan.

"I know Frank will be a hit in Wigan, he'll be a hit in the English rugby league. He's a very strong, powerful forward and I know the Wigan club very well and they will enjoy his playing capacity.

"I've had a close affiliation with Frank all through his career, I brought him over here as an 18-year-old and it was very important for me that this decision was in the best interest of Frank, which it is."

The mid-season arrival of front-rower Junior Paulo from the Eels meant Nuuausala had slipped down the pecking order at the Raiders, who are developing a big, young pack.

But Stuart said Nuuausala's move wasn't about the Raiders' forwards depth and was instead what was best for the powerful prop at this time in his career.

"One hundred per cent that's what it's about. When you're in this business it's very difficult to make decisions on how you want to finish your career, or where you want to play," Stuart said.

"It's been down to Frank's decision and he's lucky that he's comfortable and it's going to be a high-profile, successful club in Wigan now."

Nuuausala has played 184 NRL games – 153 those with the Roosters – and was looking for further success in the Super League.

"I've achieved everything that I can in my career in the NRL and, whilst still in my prime as a prop-forward, want to experience the challenge of Super League," he said.

"It would be great to win the grand final over there as well and the Challenge Cup at Wembley and joining a strong and successful club like Wigan gives me that best opportunity." with AAP
