The Semi Radradra saga has taken another twist, with the Parramatta winger not returning to Sydney from Fiji as scheduled but given additional leave before re-joining the Eels' squad.

A week after he flew to see his family in Fiji – telling friends of a desire to relocate to French rugby – the guessing game over whether Radradra would indeed see out his contract with the Eels is yet to reach its conclusion.

Radradra's manager, George Christodoulou, said on Sunday the 24-year-old would return to training with Brad Arthur's team on Wednesday ahead of Parramatta's next game against Cronulla on Saturday night.

He had been due to arrive back in Sydney on Sunday, with the original plan to travel with his ill father, but the Test winger remains in his homeland as Parramatta begin preparations to take on the top-of-the-table Sharks.

"His coach has given him leave until Wednesday," Christodoulou said via text message, insisting that Radradra would be back. Parramatta are now also expecting him at training on Wednesday.

In discussions with the NRL's integrity chief Nick Weeks last week, Radradra's manager was warned of serious consequences, including the prospect of a long-term suspension from the competition, if the player walked out of Parramatta midway through a contract.

Christodoulou has since declared that he will play out his contract until the end of the 2017 season, although Radradra himself has said only that he was yet to make up his mind.

The player Parramatta hope to lure back – in part as a carrot for Radradra to remain at the club beyond next year – has spoken to him since he arrived in Fiji.

Jarryd Hayne, training in a bid to make the Fiji rugby sevens team for the Rio Olympic Games, said he was hoping to meet with Radradra before his return to Sydney.

"I spoke to Semi, he's doing OK but you know, you never know but hopefully I get to catch up with him, before he heads back," Hayne was quoted as telling the Fiji Times.

"It'll be good to catch up with him but you know he's his own man and I always told him I'm always here to chat and if he needs anything, [I] am just a step away.

"I know he was in Suva the other day but we just missed each other and I was going out as he was coming in, hopefully we can catch up before he goes back or hopefully we can keep in contact."

Radradra was staying in the capital, Suva, but was expected to visit his family at their village on the remote island of Taveuni.

​In other Parramatta news it emerged they will not learn until at least the end of the week the make-up of the final penalty to be handed down by the NRL for the club's salary cap rorting.

The Eels' provisional punishment was 12 competition points, a $1 million fine and the pending deregistration of five officials, and after receiving submissions from the club and the officials NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg will make a final ruling.
