There are five candidates for the seat of Kennedy and they are in order of ballot: 1, Valerie Weier (the Greens) 2, Donna Maree Gallehawk (Family First) 3, Norm Jacobsen (Australian Labor Party) 4 Bob Katter (Katter's Australian Party) 5 Jonathan Pavetto (Liberal National Party).

The seat has been held by Bob Katter since 1993 and he retained it most recently in 2013 on a 52-48 two party preferred margin against the LNP.

In the Queensland Senate election there is a bewildering array of candidates to choose from and an election ballot paper (white, compared to the smaller green House of Reps ballot paper for Kennedy) that people will struggle to fold to put in the voting box.

All 12 Queensland seats are up for grabs in this double dissolution election and there are new Senate voting rules.

You will need to either number at least six boxes above the line for the parties or groups of your choice, or number at least 12 boxes below the line for individual candidates of your choice.

Polling booths are open from 8am to 6pm and there are six places to vote in Mount Isa on July 2.

They are: Central State School at 49 Miles St, Happy Valley State School on Brilliant St, Sunset SS at Abel Smith Parade, Healy State School at 5-9 Thomson Rd, Spinifex State College senior campus at 145-163 Abel Smith Parade and Barkly State School at 3-17 Bougainville St.

In Cloncurry you can vote at Cloncurry State School at Daintree St. Other polling booths in the North West are: Boulia State School, Croydon State School, Doomadgee PCYC, Hughenden Court House, Julia Creek Court House, Karumba State School, Bynoe Community Hall in Normanton, Richmond Shire Hall.

There is also a mobile polling booth at Camooweal Community Hall on Saturday (9am-1pm) and there was previously mobile booths at Burketown (June 25), Dajarra (June 21), Gregory (June 24), McKinlay (June 30), Phosphate Hill (June 21) and Urandangi (June 20).
