Moore is in the frame to return from a fractured collarbone when the Pies face Carlton at the MCG on Saturday night. It means veteran Cloke is again in danger of being dropped, for what would be third and possibly final time this season.

Cloke kicked 2.2 in a solid return showing against Fremantle last week, but coach Nathan Buckley would not guarantee Cloke's return when pressed about the matter in a radio interview at the weekend.

But ruckman Grundy said Moore's inclusion did not necessarily have to be at the expense of another big man – not least Cloke – who Grundy said deserved to remain in the senior side.

Grundy referenced a NAB Challenge game against Melbourne in which the Pies played him, Cox, Cloke, Moore and Jarrod Witts in the same enlarged team as proof that Collingwood weren't scared to go in with an abundance of talls.

"Bucks said [Moore] would play if he's fully fit," Grundy said at the Holden Centre on Tuesday, prior to a clinic with young Magpies fans.

"I haven't really heard much more.

"I like playing with Darcy. I love him as a player and as a bloke. So if he does play, that's fine with me, but it's up to the match committee."

Grundy suggested the big men could all co-exist.

"The tall dynamic has worked in the past. There's potential that could happen. They're not afraid to play some tall players."

In any case, Grundy said Cloke deserved to keep his spot in the Pies team. "I love playing with Trav. He's got a real energy and real presence when he gets onto the field. He definitely makes teams think if he's playing at his best, he definitely draws the best defender, if not their second best.

"Does he deserve to stay in? I think so."

Grundy also praised Cloke's attitude during a difficult campaign in which the key forward has struggled with form and been a constant source of headlines. The South Australian said he hoped Cloke would honour the final year of his contract at the Pies in 2017.

"He's a lovely person.

"Before I got drafted I thought he was a big angry man with a tattoo on his back but once you get to know him he's a really lovely man and he loves his teammates.

"I'd love to be a teammate of his for the years to come."

Grundy was among the Pies' best in the win over the Dockers. He said Buckley's support had been crucial throughout an indifferent year.

"Bucks said to me after the Brisbane and Geelong game that those were the two best games I've played for the club, so I don't know how Friday night compares, but he did says that it was the best I've connected with my teammates in terms of giving them first use, so it was good to get that feedback.

"It's definitely something in this environment when you're getting that positive reinforcement instead of dwelling on the negatives it can definitely boost your confidence and belief in yourself which is something that I really take a lot out of.

"Probably my poorest performance would have been against Carlton last time we played, and that's something that I would definitely be looking to turn around this week."
