So it is about time the world-leading tea company came Down Under and added an Australian blend to its array of teas.
With English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast, Russian Caravan and a plethora of other varieties, 10th-generation Twinings Tea man Stephen Twining and master tea blender Phillipa Thacker made the trip south to find out what Australians want to drink.
And with a large portion of their customers in Australia being women, they are particularly trying to find out the kind of tea Aussie women are after.
"I am here to speak to as many Australian ladies as possible," Ms Thacker said.
"Stephen Twining and I are doing a tour of the country to gather information on what Australian women want as a blend.
"What occasion they like to drink tea, whether they want something refreshing or a hug in a mug."
To prepare Australians for their arrival, Ms Thacker was set a special challenge to create a tea blend for each city they were visiting.
For Brisbane she was inspired by the sunshine and the tropical climate.
Using two different types of black tea from Ceylon, she added citrus peel for flavour and marigold petals for effect, plus a dash of orange oil and mango oil to enchance the tropical flavours.
"Here in Brisbane, it's tropical, I have taken my inspiration from tropical fruit, the warmth, the weather, the glitz and glam," she said.
The resulting tea blend was a strong black tea with powerful tropical aroma but only the lightest taste of fruits.
Ms Thacker and Mr Twining will continue their tour of the country before developing a blend specifically for Australia.
