PARTS of the North West saw above average rainfall and colder than average temperatures throughout June due to La Niña forming.

The start of the month started off warm in Mount Isa with mean maximum temperature of 25.6 degrees which was 0.7 degrees above average. The highest maximum temperature recorded was 34.3 degrees on June 8.
Temperatures dropped quickly towards the end of the month after an inland trough caused showers across the North West.
The minimum mean temperature was 11.7 degrees which was 1.7 degrees above average. The lowest minimum temperature was 2.1 degrees on June 30 a breaking the record from 2009.
Mount Isa saw above average rainfall with 41mm recorded, over the average 6.5mm. The highest monthly rainfall was 25.2mm on June 19 taking the annual rainfall to 278.8mm.
Other record breakers around the North West included the highest daily rainfall in Urandangi receiving 40.4mm on June 18.
Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) spokesperson, Doug Frazer, said July would see similar conditions to June with cooler temperatures and above average rainfall.
