O'Meara's manager Colin Young angrily refuted reports the 2013 Rising Star winner has put settling his future beyond this season ahead of a crucial playing return early next month.

Jaeger, 22, is in the final stages of recovery from a succession of serious knee injuries.

He has not played football since the last home-and-away round of 2014 after he had played 44 games in his first two AFL seasons.

The gifted WA midfielder is out of contract at the end of this season, with O'Meara and Young repeatedly declaring that regular discussions with Suns management is on his welfare and crucial recovery program.

O'Meara is set to resume playing within a fortnight with Suns reserves team in the NEAFL competition and could be back at top level before the end of next month.

"We have not had any discussions on any new agreement with the Suns because all along it has been Jaeger's request and instructions to complete a full recovery and then start playing footy again," Young told WAtoday.

"It is ridiculous to consider that a young footballer is talking about a contract or anything other than just trying to play football with what he has been through and played so little senior football.

"That's his only objective."

It has been constantly documented and widely discussed through AFL circles that O'Meara could be a possible trade target if he was fully fit and threatening to again achieve his enormous potential that secured the league's top young player award in his first season.

"Getting his knee right has been Jaeger's only objective for many months now and it is disgusting to be suggesting otherwise," Young said.

"Jaeger just wants to play football.

"He has said all along that any decision to stay at Gold Coast or not is out of the question until he has played some footy and as much as he can play before the end of this season."
