The cooler weather is not deterring any athletes from training in the 21-kilometre half marathon from Lake Moondarra to Tony White Oval.
In the past many participants travelled long distances to make it to Mount Isa, some from as far as Townsville to compete in the iconic outback running event.
With many previous years winners and runners-up not able to enter this year’s event there is a good chance of an unknown competitor to take out podium position.
The speculation is high on who the possibly winner this year could be.
Mark Thinee and Kit Rix will not be competing in open male category, nor will previous open ladies winner and now Townsville based Akiko Nishi. It is anyone’s game.
Along with the half marathon, anyone wishing to participate can also enter into either a 10-kilometre or 5-kilometre race distance, depending on fitness level and personal goals.
There is also a category for a 21-kilometre team event or 21-kilometre walk depending on if you want to complete the event yourself or with friends.
It is a great way to either start on the road to a healthier lifestyle or to challenge yourself against the clock.
The Outback to Stack will also see lucky entrant draws with SportsPower $200 shoe vouchers and other prizes up for grabs. There will also be a sausage sizzle and drinks available in support of Rotary Rodeo Queen Quest Entrant Sarah Brisbane.
Race day is Sunday July 24 and the Isa Rats are holding their next public training day this weekend on Sunday July 3 at 4pm at Tony White Oval, all are welcome.
This is a trail run/walk consisting of a 5-kilometre track so participants can do as many loops of the track as they like and meet some new training buddies as well.
Registration and infromation for the event can be found at either 'Isa running and triathlon club' website or Facebook page.
