Funded by Mount Isa City Council, RACQ Get Ready, and Mount Isa Veterinary Surgery, every new register will be eligible for free microchipping at the Mount Isa Veterinary Surgery.
The free microchipping vouchers will be available at Council’s Pet Information Day at the Civic Centre lawns on Saturday July 23.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said microchipping was one of the most important things you could do for your pet.
“Council understands the importance of pets to our local families,” Cr McCulloch said.
“We are committed to helping our residents keep track of their pets.
“We have a lot of pets come through the pound after becoming lost and ending up on the streets, and microchipping always ensures the best outcome of reuniting them with their owners,” Cr McCulloch said.
New registrations with free microchipping voucher on July 23 will cost $15 for dogs up to 12 weeks (must have proof of age), $44 for desexed dog (must show proof of desexing), and $135 for entire dog.
Cost for cats will be $18 for desexed cat (must supply proof) or $44 for entire cat.
Cr McCulloch said residents who register their pet on the day will receive one of 90 available microchipping vouchers.
“Vouchers will allow locals to book their free service at the Mount Isa Veterinary Surgery,” Cr McCulloch said.
Pet Education Day will feature tours of RSPCA’s state-of-the-art Education Mobile Unit, Paws Hoofs and Claws cupcake and BBQ fundraiser, animal adoption meet and greets, petting zoo and jumping castle, RACQ Get Ready Emergency Pet Plan kits with free animal microchipping voucher..
All the proceeds from the Pet Education Day will go to supporting Mount Isa’s own Paws Hoofs and Claws.
