He returns to Mount Isa only two months after performing at the civic centre as part of the Melbourne Comedy Roadshow.
The bio on Kropinyeri’s website said he “is a bona fide star of the Indigenous performing arts, appearing at the Deadly Awards at the Sydney Opera House six years running.”
Kalkadoon NAIDOC committee member Sheree Blackley said the committee was able to get Kropinyeri to perform in Mount Isa for the gala dinner because they knew him from a previous gig he had done for the Kalkadoon people.
“In 2012 we had the Kalkadoon determination native title of our lands, and Kevin came out and MC’d for that.
“We already had that relationship already.”
The gala dinner will be held at the Overlander Hotel on Saturday, July 9. Tickets can be bought by contacting Ms Blackley on 0434 648 809.
Celebrating NAIDOC week is about acknowledging traditional owners...and celebrating our culture and achievements and sharing our culture with other people.”

However, there were other events being held across NAIDOC week which includes the flag raising ceremony at the civic centre lawns this Sunday.
The ceremony begins at 10am.
The committee spent several months preparing, although Ms Blackley said preparations for next year’s NAIDOC begin from August.
“I think we did quite well considering the short time frame,” she said.
However, there were still a lot of events happening during the week and it was great that many community service providers were involved in the celebrations, she said.
“Celebrating NAIDOC week is about acknowledging traditional owners...and celebrating our culture and achievements and sharing our culture with other people,” the NAIDOC committee member said.
