The harsh reality of AFL football has hit former Melbourne captain Jack Trengove, who has been dropped three games into his senior return following more than two years on the outer with serious foot issues.

Trengove had been recalled for the Demons' round 11 match against Hawthorn, but having averaged 17 disposals since returning, he has been left out of the side to face Adelaide at the MCG on Sunday.
It means both he and his one-time co-captain Jack Grimes are emergencies for the clash with the Crows, who are unchanged as they chase a sixth straight win.
Jeff Garlett, James Harmes and Matt Jones have been recalled, with Josh Wagner (knee) and Clayton Oliver (omitted) the other players making way.
Trengove could win a reprieve however after star midfielder Jack Viney left the track early at Gosch's Paddock on Friday, having experienced hamstring tightness, leaving him in doubt to face Adelaide.
