"He's a very nice horse and he's showed that at his first race start," Price said. "Although he's very inexperienced and I'd like to keep him going to knock a few of the rough edges off him, I do think he's Caulfield Guineas material.

"He's a very impressive type but once he gets to the front he wants to pull up, but that's just immaturity."

It was an important victory for Price as the owners of Yu Long Sheng Hui, Chinese for jade dragon,  are new clients who have a property at Bayles near Pakenham.

The $1million  Caulfield Guineas is regarded as a stallion-maker,  something that would not be lost on the colt's connections.

Jockey Dale Smith was also excited about Yu Long Sheng Hui's future after Saturday's victory.

"He was three deep and Mick Price told me he was confident that the horse would run well on his home track but the horse is a bit of a 'lad'," Smith said.

"He takes a little bit of riding to keep his mind on the job."

The favourite, Tenappy Ladies, was  beaten on the home turn, however, stewards reported  that the colt had a slow recovery rate  after the race.

Honest middle-distance galloper Duke Of Brunswick gave  Price a winning double when he won the Ladbrokes.com.au Handicap (1400m).

Under-rated three-year-old Ocean Embers will head to Adelaide for the Lightning Stakes, a black-type race over 1000 metres later this month  after scoring a powerful win in the Sheen Group Plate.

Trainer Shea Eden said he had been pleased with Ocean Embers' work despite the filly having a throat operation since she last raced.

Runner-up Carterista also showed great promise at her first start, finishing bravely  from well back.

Earlier. Team Hawkes recorded their 100th victory for the season when Longeron scored a runaway win in the Kevin Dunne Plate.
