Melbourne utility Jack Watts says the Demons' season is far from over and that the playing group is intent on using the remaining games to improve and build towards 2017.

"We've still got about eight or nine games left so there's plenty of footy to be played," he said. "For this group, I don't think there will be any throwing in the towel.
"We've been in some pretty dark places and we're set on improving and taking this club forward."
Watts admits it is frustrating that the club continues to lose matches it has a chance of winning – it lost to the Crows at the MCG on Sunday by 22 points and sits 10th on the ladder at 6-8 – putting it down to lapses in concentration.
"You don't want to use any sort of excuse, we are young, but at the same time they are simple little attention lapses," he said. "I don't think that's inexperience or anything like that, it's just simple skill errors.
"We've got to tighten up and work pretty hard on the track to get better at those things."
The former No.1 draft pick is enjoying a career-best season and believes a new contract is not too far away.
"My manager is actually overseas at the moment living the celebrity lifestyle over there, so that's probably one reason (a deal has not yet been done)," Watts joked.
"But yeah, it's not too far away. Certainly I've said that all along. With how the club is going at the moment, the people we've got in place and the young players who are coming through, it's a pretty bright future at Melbourne."
In the run home, Melbourne play Fremantle, St Kilda, West Coast, Gold Coast, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide, Carlton and Geelong.
