Lonergan, 32, has made it clear he is keen to suit up for a 15th season but where the Cats finish this year, as well as his own form, will be major factors.

He understands a decision won't be made until late in the campaign but believes he is physically and mentally fresh enough to play on and pass the 200-game milestone.

Lonergan has played in 13 matches this season, and remains a dependable full back.

While Lance Franklin had more of a team role against the Cats on Friday night, and pushed further afield, the Swans superstar was held to one goal and seven marks.

Cowan has endured injury woes since experiencing Achilles tendon soreness in 2012 but has enjoyed consistent form in the VFL.

The Cats' list-management decisions will also be shaped by whether the AFL drops the rookie list and has all players on a senior list. The AFL continues to work through this.

Veteran rebounding half-back Andrew Mackie is contracted for next season.
