A man has been rushed to hospital after he was cut free from his wrecked vehicle following a serious crash north of Brisbane.

Police had earlier reported he was in a critical condition but a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said he had been taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition with chest and face injuries.
Further north on the Bruce Highway, a single vehicle crash was causing headaches for commuters with one lane blocked southbound.
Police said no one was injured when a ute ran into a guard rail about 200 metres south of Pumicestone Road, at Caboolture.

Delays extended back two and a half kilometres at one point, according to the Australian Traffic Network's Jay Lane, but had reduced to 500 metres by 7.30am.
Delays were clearing on the Deagon Deviation in Brighton after a three car crash about 6.15am, where police again reported no one was injured.

A man is fighting for life after being cut free from his car following a collision with a truck north of Brisbane
Diversions were put in place on Linkfield Road, Brendale, just south of Strathpine following the 5.40am crash.
Firefighters had to use hydraulic cutters to get past both the driver and passenger doors to give paramedics access to the patient, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said.
A police spokesman said the man was critically injured.
About 6.15am, they managed to pull him from the wreckage as debris scattered around forced police to close the road.
