But among the dragons, pufferfish and various clothes items, have we been unable to find images that help us best express our beautiful, sunny state?
Tourism and Events Queensland has put the call out ahead of World Emoji Day on Sunday for more Queensland-specific emojis to show off what the sunshine state has to offer.
If Cody Simpson, Queensland's version of Justin Bieber can get his own Twitter emoji, then surely we can be afforded a simple kangaroo, lamington or emu.
Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Leanne Coddington said emojis were a global, universal language and were a great way to share experiences with everyone.
"The use of emojis is particularly prevalent for travellers who use them to tell their friends and followers about their experiences, which connects people and places," she said.
"We encourage people to share their Queensland experiences whether it be on the reef, our islands and beaches or natural wonders, in our cities and regional towns and the Outback."
More than 110 billion emojis have been tweeted since 2014 and have been taken up by a wide audience, including Foreign Affairs Minister and queen of the emoji Julie Bishop who harnessed the power of the pictographic icons to describe serious democratic relationships last year.
Below is Tourism and Events Queensland's wishlist, with a few of our own added in.
