Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church Child Care Centre dressed in their nightwear on Friday to help raise much needed funds for children in the foster care system.
The day saw all 51 children and 15 educators dress to impress in their finest sleeping attire.
Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church Child Care Centre service leader, Shinaai Fletcher, said as an early child care centre they supported children and families in the fostering system.
“We wanted to help raise funds in a hope to be able to provide them (foster children and families) a warm and safe environment to learn and grow in,” Ms Fletcher said.

Ms Fletcher said there were activities that coincided with the day.
“Children participated in group cookie cooking, group book readings, dancing, balloon games and arts and craft," she said.
“The children also decorated the foyer of the child care centre with pyjamas that they had added colour and creativity too.
“The children were all very excited to be able to wear their pyjamas to daycare and some even insisted that they needed new pyjamas to wear to day care.”
In their first year of hosting the pyjama day, children and educators were able to raise $75 on the day for children in the foster care system.
Ms Fletcher said the pyjama day fundraiser would become a yearly event at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church Child Care Centre.
“We will continue to host this event and other dress up days to raise awareness for other organisations also,” she said.
“We would also like to thank all who made donations towards this cause.”
