Initial investigations indicate a 20-year-old Richmond man and his 25-year-old passenger left an address in Croydon around 6pm Friday.
When the pair failed to return home a family member commenced a search and later found a single vehicle traffic crash on Claraville-Croydon Road in Croydon.
The driver, a 20-year-old Richmond man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police and emergency crews continued searching for the missing passenger throughout Friday
The man was located by crews just before 5pm Friday afternoon.
He was transported to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment of dehydration and medical assessment.
