Anyone who came along and registered their dog or cat received a voucher for free microchipping at Mount Isa Veterinary Surgery.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said she was delighted people took up the offer, and benefitted from the free microchip.
“While it is important that an animal is registered, microchipping is so important for the safety of your pet, and the peace of mind that he will be traced back to you if your pet goes missing,” Cr McCulloch said.
On the day, there were 60 new pets registered with free microchipping vouchers.
Around 400 people visited the information day on the Civic Centre lawns, with 350 visits to the mobile RSPCA Education Mobile Unit (EMU) which provided information on proper care of pets.
Paws Hoofs and Claws sold out of sausages and cupcakes and their adoption animals stall received plenty of pats and affection while the petting zoo was also a hit.
