Cloncurry Police Station’s officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Brad Rix said the police had a search warrant to search a Railway Street property. The drug was found in a bedroom cupboard, he said.
“Some of the cannabis had been packaged into varying amounts in preparation for sale and distribution,” Senior Sergeant Rix said.
The man was charged with supplying a dangerous drug, and possessing a dangerous drug. He was released on bail to appear before the Cloncurry Magistrates Court on August 19.
Senior Sergeant Rix said there was a false perception that cannabis was a harmless recreational drug. “Police from Cloncurry will continue to investigate the supply of all dangerous drugs within the township with a view of prosecuting those responsible,” he said.
