Local real estate agent Stephanie Bithell has put a “Cupcake Day Team” together to raise money at the festival.
The festival will be held in West Street on Wednesday, August 10.
However, the stall’s major event will be the Mega Cupcake Day at the Island Bowls Club, between 10am to 2pm on Sunday, August 28.
“Our intention is to raise as much money and awareness for both the RSPCA and Paws, Hoofs and Claws, who both do a great job in rescuing and rehabilitating animals of all shapes and sizes,” Ms Bithell said.
“The awareness campaign is in conjunction with the RSPCA Cupcake Day 2016 which is run from May to October.
“They encourage people to create or join teams to which you can host cupcake themed events at work, home, school, social and sports clubs, and just about any other setting you can think of.”
Ms Bithell said that even $20 would make a difference in the welfare of animals.
She hoped to raise about $3000 from the stall.
That would amount to 1000 cupcakes that would need to be sold between both events.
“40 per cent of all the money raised is going to Paws, Hoofs and Claws to keep the money local,” Ms Bithell said.
She used the interview as an opportunity to rally more support for the cause.
“I am encouraging anyone who may be interested in holding a cupcake morning tea, joining my team, helping bake cupcakes, having a stand at the Mega Cupcake Day or donating to the cause to contact myself on 0408 797 931, stephaniescupcakesmtisa@gmail.com or on our Facebook page, Stephanie’s Cupcakes.”
“You can help in other ways as well, by donating cupcake mixes, take away containers, help bake, donate to the page or donate an item or service as a prize for a raffle.
“You can sponsor the event to ensure that more money goes to these deserving charities.” The Mega Cupcake Day will also have other businesses attending, including the Red Baked Potatoes Caboose.
