Qld Health have warned of cannabis use dangers after this week’s drugs bust. NWHHS Executive Director of Medical Services Assoc Prof Alan Sandford said adverse effects include paranoia, anxiety, depression and sedation. “One joint is equivalent in terms of tar to about 3-4 cigarettes and is thought to be a risk factor for lung cancer as well as coronary heart disease,” he said. He said help was available at ATODS Mount Isa which had a dedicated child and youth clinician to help people address alcohol and drug issues.
