Not only is the Melbourne Storm-Raiders clash at Canberra Stadium on Monday a top-four blockbuster, it's also a battle of two of the most potent edges in the game.

Vunivalu leads the NRL with 17 tries so far this season, while his fellow Storm winger Marika Koroibete has run in 12 down the left.

Both Croker and Rapana are two behind Vunivalu with 15 apiece, but combined they have the edge on the two Fijians.

Croker wasn't interested in the individual gong, but took a subtle dig at his opposite edge teammate.

"Jordy Rapana might on the right mate, but no it's not something that bothers me. I just try to push up and do my bit for the side," he said.

"I'm just happy with the win, I wouldn't care if we didn't score a try all year if we kept winning."

It's shaping as one of a number of interesting battles across the park, with each team boasting potent attacking edges.

Croker has been brilliant on the left for the Raiders, playing himself into the representative conversation, while the duo dubbed "Leipana" – Rapana and centre Joey Leilua – have been equally dangerous down the right.

Vunivalu will be partially Croker's problem, along with left wing Brenko Lee, while Rapana and Koroibete will go up against each other.

It was something Rapana was relishing as he looks to take his game to the next level, with New Zealand coach Stephen Kearney keeping an eye on the Raiders winger for the Four Nations later this year.

But Rapana deflected his captain's cheeky dig about trying to overtake Vunivalu.

"I've played against [Koroibete] a few times in my career and he's definitely a good player. I love playing against good players, it makes you better and keeps you on your toes," Rapana said.

"I'm not too focused about [the leading try scorer], I'm just focused on getting the job done for the team and doing the best that I can."

Croker said the men out wide were simply cashing in on the work done in the middle.

He said both teams relied on their respective hookers – Storm captain Cameron Smith and Josh Hodgson for the Raiders – to get the ball rolling.

Both No. 9s have been influential in recent weeks, with Smith kicking the winning field goal in the Storm's golden-point victory over South Sydney on the weekend and Hodgson setting up a brilliant try with a deft grubber kick for Rapana to run onto against Cronulla.

The Raiders captain was expecting both players to again be the catalyst for their teams in the Monday night blockbuster.

"There's a little bit [of try scoring power] there, but all four of those guys scoring tries can't get that without the blokes in the middle," Croker said.

"And it starts from Hodgo for us and probably Cam Smith for them. I think it's going to be another one where the middles control the game."

Rapana was expecting to study video footage of Smith and Melbourne halfback Cooper Cronk during the week.

"We'll be doing a lot of video on [their kicking game] and us back three we'll make sure we're on our game," he said.

"They've obviously got a good kicking game on both sides of the field and Cameron Smith in the middle, so we've got to be on point there."
