This was one of the first duties for Rodeo Queen Chelsea Beckmann, Charity Queen Sarah Brisbane and Runner Up Renaee Gattera since they were crowned last Saturday.
The queens spoke of what events will be held at the rodeo, who their favourite mascot was and a little bit about their queen journey.
Ms Beckmann said her favourite part of the school visits was the costumes.
“The students and parents have put in 110 per cent. We have seen cowgirls, cowboys, bull fighters, clowns, bucking bulls, horses and rodeo queens. Seeing the children get fully involved in their costumes has been a great way to start the week.”
Ms Brisbane said, she was loving the school visits and could remember rodeo queens visiting her in primary school.
“I remember the rodeo queens coming around and doing the parades. It has been amazing to come back and share that experience now with the youth of Mount Isa.”
Ms Gattera said, the week was great visiting all the schools.
“It was great to judge the best dressed cowboy and cowgirl at some of the schools and inform children of what was happening at the rodeo.”
Having travelled around Australia and the United States of America, Miss Rodeo Australia Katy Scott said she enjoyed visiting the school children the most.
“It has been so amazing, the children have been so interactive and their faces just light up as we walk in,” Ms Scott.
“Having the mascots really added to the rodeo spirit and I definitely think Chainsaw was the favourite at majority of the schools.
“It has been great meeting and hanging out with these beautiful three Mount Isa Rodeo Queens,
“They have been so much fun and it is looking to be a great weekend.”
On Wednesday the queens visited Happy Valley State School, Injilnji Kindy, Eileen Fisher Kindy, Spinifex Junior, Central Primary School, Estelle Cardiff Kindy as well as Laura Johnson Home, Mount Isa Hospital and Blue Care.
Thursday saw them visit St Kieran’s Catholic Primary School, Townview State School, St Joseph’s Catholic School, Sunset Kindy, Mount Isa Special School, Barkly Highway State School, Healy State School, Happy Valley Primary and Sunset State School.
All rodeo queens are all looking forward to the Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo and hope to see everyone at Buchanan Park this weekend.
