Forget and Oxford Poet drew the outside two gates in the spring preview, while the returning His Majesty drew 12 of 13 a race later.

"They are not the ideal draws, you think you might get one good one," Waugh said with a smile. "We will just have to make the most of it with some nice horses and I think they can."

Oxford Poet won the Winter Stakes two runs back and is now caught in the transition from winter racing to spring, while Forget got home hard late second up in the July Sprint for third.

"The barrier doesn't really worry Oxford Poet because he will just roll forward and use his usual speed," Waugh said. "It hurts Forget because we would have liked to ride him a bit more forward, but he will probably have to go back now.

"Forget is going great and is off his head at home. I just wish he drew a barrier so we could put him into the race. Once he gets to 1400 metres he can be anywhere in the race, so we could follow Oxford Poet across, but the worry is where he will end up [maybe wide without cover].

"They are both going great and have the advantage of a few runs under their belt against horses that are returning."

His Majesty starts a preparation that Waugh hopes will lead to the Epsom Handicap in October. The brother of Puissance De Lune has had two preparations for Waugh and the only time the import missed a place in seven runs was when he bled last spring.

He was on an Epsom path then and Waugh sees no reason to change her lofty goals with the provincial championships place-getter.

"You have got to aim high," Waugh said. "He is pretty good and we have always thought he would get to that level. We will start on Saturday and go through the Cameron with maybe one or two other runs.

"We would just like to get him through a preparation and let him show what he can do."

His Majesty carries strong form references, but disappointed punters at his last run. But Waugh said there were excuses for him when he was narrowly beaten by High Midnight in April.

"We would have kept on going last prep, but that track he ran on last start was very hard," Waugh said. "He half loomed up, but didn't go on with it.

"He pulled up so jary I had to tip him out he was that bad.

"He has come back better and we have seen what he can do on the right sort of track and I think the track will be perfect for him on Saturday.

"I think he is ready to sprint well, but the barrier probably dictates where he will be in the race, so he will have a bit of work to do."
