In the main bullriding event, Jared Borghero was the only one of 10 final competitors to last the eight seconds on the brutal Brandenburg bulls – which were so good, one of them even has its own Facebook page.
Borghero clocked up a sensational 89 points for his ride on Lock And Load, afterwards modestly putting the win down to the choice of bull he drew.
“(The bull) had me working but I couldn’t have drawn any better,” Borghero said.
None of the other riders could make an aggregate score but Proserpine cowboy Roy Dunn finished second on the back of his fine first round run with Jay Borghero and Cody Heffernan tying for third.
It was a great day for the Borghero boys with Jay also taking out the division two bulls buckle and cash.
There was also a poignant moment at the end of the day when famed protection clown Dan Roberts called time on his Isa career after 11 years.
“If I was 10 years younger, I’d give it another 10 years,” Roberts said.
Earlier in the saddle broncs Michael Maher made it three in a row after his wins in 2014 and 2015 with Brad Pierce and John McNamee in a tie for second.
Meanwhile Jamie Downing came from down the field to win the ladies barrels in a scorching time of 17.5 for a combined 35.253.
