On the podium: If Tom Rockliff was sliding down 2017 draft boards and out of the top five, his 174 points on the weekend have catapulted him right back into consideration for the top pick.

CARLTON
Losing faith: Even if Dale Thomas produces strong performances across the final two weeks of the season, he'll never reach the heights of his 2010 and 2011 campaigns. That's despite remaining on the park for the majority of the year.

COLLINGWOOD
Shuffling magnets: If we were frustrated as to why Adam Oxley was toiling away in the VFL for seven weeks despite good form, now we know. And a move forward doesn't seem to be doing his scoring any good. At least he'll have dual positions next year.

ESSENDON
Pioneers: Zach Merrett's reign as the club captain doesn't come as a surprise. As the second highest averaging player in the league, he would have been Ultimate Footy captain for weeks.

FREMANTLE
Closure: If Nat Fyfe exercises his free agency rights in the coming years, we may get closure on the ongoing conundrum that is Michael Barlow's midfield time.

GEELONG
Defence please: If Harry Taylor's shift down forward against Richmond was only a one-off in 2016, fantasy coaches are the real winners. Facing Brisbane this week, Taylor's productivity could be similar to his 106-point game against Essendon a fortnight ago.

GOLD COAST
Hush hush: If Touk Miller had been drafted by a Victorian club, he would already be rated among the best mid-forwards in the game. But he wasn't and he is currently the best kept secret in fantasy footy.

GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY
Watchlist: If Rory Lobb one day transitions into a fulltime ruckman in the post-Shane Mumford era, he will be a top three fantasy ruck option. He's been inconsistent this season, but the potential, à la 108 points on the weekend, says it all.

HAWTHORN
Off the pace: Liam Shiels was once considered a high B-grade fantasy midfielder. Midway through the 2015 season he was ready to break through that glass ceiling into the elite, but he's fallen away.

MELBOURNE
Going for gold: If Max Gawn takes out your Ultimate Footy team's best and fairest, it'd be thoroughly deserved. And we'd reckon he'd be the life of the party as well.

NORTH MELBOURNE
Factory closure: If we're being honest, North Melbourne are something of a fantasy wasteland now. They're often criticised for their old list, but aside from Jack Ziebell and Todd Goldstein, what other players have really developed into admirable fantasy prospects over the last two years?

PORT ADELAIDE
Pretenders: How the Port Adelaide players perform in Ultimate Footy could be a metaphor for the club itself. Full of potential and high expectations each year but, again, they failed to deliver.

RICHMOND
Name game: If we were to rank facts about Oleg Markov that are great, the list would be as follows: No. 1, his name; No. 2, his scoring in Ultimate Footy. His scoring of late has been excellent, but we feel his name just takes the cake.

ST KILDA
Game changer: If Blake Acres was ever viewed as the forgotten man of St Kilda's 2013 draft class, he certainly isn't any more. And scores of 91, 82 and 99 provide the justification.

SYDNEY
Record breaker: If Buddy Franklin's 139 points last round weren't enough satisfaction, this week he plays North Melbourne in Tasmania. And we all know how that ended last time.

WEST COAST
Polar opposites: If Nic Nat hadn't kicked that last second goal against the Giants, his score would have only been 12.75 times that of Scott Lycett's. But he did, meaning he scored 13.75 times that of his ruck partner.

WESTERN BULLDOGS
Track star: In the likelihood that Caleb Daniel qualified for an event at the Olympics, you'd think he would burn out if he ran any further than 200m. This season, he started on fire, but has slowed considerably to a five-round average of 68.2.
