Five "unknown" Queenslanders will each receive a five-figure sum from the Australian Electoral Commission despite being unsuccessful in winning a seat at the July 2 federal election.

All received less than seven per cent of the first preferences in their electorates and stood as independent candidates.
They will receive $2.63 for each vote they received, because they received more than four per cent of first preference votes, according to Australian Electoral Commission guidelines.
Daniel McCarthy, who stood in the North Queensland seat of Leichhardt won by the LNP's Warren Entsch, will receive $16,019.31 cents after receiving 6096 votes.
Mr McCarthy received 6.86 per cent of the vote and finished fifth behind the LNP, Labor, The Greens and Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party.
In the seat of Forde, on Brisbane/Logan's southern boundary independent candidate David Wilks will receive $13, 775 for his 3843 votes.
Mr Wilks finished fourth behind the LNP, Labor and The Greens with 5.85 per cent of the vote.
Kenneth Murray, who stood in the central Queensland seat of Capricornia, won by the LNP's Michelle Landry, gets a payout of $11,331.25 for his 4312 votes.
Mr Murray finished fourth behind Ms Landry then the Labor and Greens candidates after receiving 4.89 per cent of the vote.
Stephen Large, who stood in the seat of Dawson, won by the LNP's George Christensen gets a payout of $10,994.88.
Mr Large received 4184 votes and finished fifth behind Mr Christensen, Labor's Frank Gilbert, Ash Dodd from Katter's Australian Party and The Greens with 4.63 per cent of the vote.
Rob Jones, who stood as an independent in the Gold Coast federal seat of McPherson, which runs up the Tallebudgera Valley will receive $10,117.18 after finishing well behind sitting MP Karen Andrews.
Mr Jones received 3850 votes and finished fifth behind Ms Andrews and Labor, Greens and Family First candidates with 4.34 per cent of the vote.
Overall, the Australian Electoral Commission will pay out a total of $62,778,275 to all political candidates at the 2016 election.
In 2013 candidates received $58.1 million in electoral funding when the "rate per vote" was a little lower.
Overall the biggest recipients of electoral funding are the major four parties.
The Liberal National Party will receive $24,203,154; the Australian Labor Party receives $23,191,686; the Australian Greens receive $6,717,055.98 cents, while The National Party receives $3,261,589.61 less than one half of The Greens' total funding.
Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party received the biggest swell of financial support from the Australian Electoral Commission, taking home $1,745,369.28 from their electoral success.
The Clive Palmer Party – which filled a similar position in the Australian Senate in 2013 to the Pauline Hanson Party in 2016 - received no money from the Australian Electoral Commission, because none of his candidates earned more than four per cent of primary votes.
Glenn Lazarus, a Clive Palmer breakaway MP, will receive $21,435.29 to try to cover expenses, less than the Australian Recreational Fishing Party ($29,573) or the Animal Justice Party ($34,445.)
Electoral newcomers, the Australian Country Party, will receive $9334.60, while the Australian Sex Party will receive least funding at $6511.79.
