A Queensland LNP MP who once queried whether Australian politicians were guilty of "muspandering", or pandering to Muslims, has raised his concerns the "threat of Islamic terrorism is increasing as the number of Islamic people in Australia grows ... through immigration, biological growth and by radicalisation".

Cleveland MP Mark Robinson used a parliamentary debate on bipartisan counter terrorism laws to raise his concerns with what he said was a growing threat, calling for stronger legislation to address "jihadi terrorism".
"In September 2014, ASIO raised the national terrorist alert level to high, where it has remained. Since September 2014, nationally there has been an escalation of terrorist-related activity which has been well documented in terms of the statistics by other members," he said.
"The majority, almost all of the attacks are due to Islamist terrorists and involve the infiltration of radical and dangerous forms of Islam into our nation.
"Who could ever forget the Lindt Cafe siege by Islamic extremist Man Monis in which two people were killed in Martin Place Sydney, or the Islamic radical who shot dead Curtis Cheng, a police civilian worker in Parramatta.
"Today, what is clear is that Australia is facing the most significant ongoing threat from Islamist terrorism in our nation's history.
"The threat of Islamist terrorism is increasing as the number of Islamic people in Australia grows through a number of sources, through immigration, biological growth and by radicalisation."
Dr Robinson continued, using his speech to urge the Queensland Parliament to go further in its legislative changes, which continue existing laws and help equalise legislation across jurisdictions.
"I am of the view that the measures do not go far enough in order to counter terrorism most effectively in Queensland. In two ways, one in the main specific source of this threat and two in regard to education prevention measures that could be taken," he said.
"The bill fails to address the specifics as the main source of terrorism and that is jihadi Islam.
"The huge majority of terrorism attacks in Europe, the UK, USA and Australia were committed by violent jihadi followers of sharia Law.
"Sharia law itself is dangerous as it is the breeding ground for violent jihadi Islamism.
"The problem is not the majority of peace-abiding Muslims who live in Australia, but those who follow sharia Law.
"Strict observance of sharia law can involve violent jihad, it can also involve interpretations of life very different to our Australian way.
"To varying degrees these aspects of sharia law are in conflict with western democracy and our Australian way of life and the violent jihad teaching that has led to violent radicalisation is of great concern."
At that point, following increasingly loud rumblings from other MPs in the chamber, Dr Robinson was stopped by the speaker and asked to make his comments relevant to the legislation.
The inquest into the Sydney siege is on-going, while Mr Cheng's son Alpha has written an open letter to One Nation founder Pauline Hanson, telling her to stop linking his father's death to her own concerns about Islamic terrorism.
"We cannot generalise the actions of extreme individuals to encompass that of other successful and law-abiding citizens who happen to be of the same faith," Mr Cheng said.
Sharia, which translates to "the clear, well-trodden path to water", sets out a moral and religious code which guides how most Muslims live their lives, with legal aspects only enforced in a minority of conservative Muslim countries, such as Saudi Arabia.
