Graziers from Western Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales and the Northern Territory will attend the free event from September 27-28 to receive expert advice across all five Grazing BMP modules.
These include Grazing Land Management, Animal Production, Soil Health, People and Business, and Animal Health and Welfare. This will create a tailored action plan for improvement and a baseline to measure future performance against.
OBE Organic is running the program of organic beef information, Grazing BMP self-assessments and training every six months in different locations to continually improve beef industry performance and raise awareness the need for more organic cattle suppliers to meet demand.
Individuals have travelled over 800-kilometres to attend the seminar, and this year Mount Isa accountant Peter O’Regan and other graziers will be in attendance.
A total of 70 graziers attended the first two OBE Organic forums in Roma and Charleville.
Channel Country grazier from Cordillo Downs Station in South Australia, Janet Brook, said the Grazing BMP format cuts through the mass of information available to cattle producers.
“Living and working on pastoral properties often means we have limited opportunity to compare ourselves to our peers and we get bombarded with information from numerous sources,” Ms Brook said.
“I participated in the Grazing BMP forum in Charleville earlier this year and found the program looked at our farming operation in a holistic way and provided me with information on areas that were below, at or above industry standard.
“I got confirmation that what we are doing is right. It also highlighted target areas to work on in our business.”
Organic producers wanting to participate in the forum can contact Ross Mackenzie on 0409 960 084.
