Less than two weeks after saying it would be "remiss" of him not to explore free agency options at the end of next year, Fyfe was singing a different tune in an article published on the Dockers' website on Monday morning.

He said that his manager Jason Dover was in constant communication with Fremantle and would get something sorted out at the "right time" next year.

"I don't want there to be any doubt that I see my future here at the Fremantle Dockers," Fyfe told fremantlefc.com.au.

"We have a strong plan in place, with good people…and recent reports that I would consider a trade at the end of the season are completely false."

It was reported last week the Gold Coast Suns were putting a package of draft picks and players together in an ambitious bid to snare Fyfe.

Dockers chief executive Steve Rosich said he hoped Fyfe's comments would end talks of the 2015 Brownlow medallist leaving the club.

"His comments today should also put an end to recent external speculation that the club would consider trading Nat to another club at the end of the season, which is not something we would entertain," Rosich said.

Fyfe, who has spent much of 2016 on the sidelines because of a broken leg, is a restricted free agent at the end of next season. His statements on Monday addresses the trade innuendo only and not free agency status and the longer he waits before before signing a new deal, the more talk will continue that he might end up elsewhere.

Still, the verbal commitment to a future at Freo will come as a welcome boost to a beleaguered fan base, which has suffered through a miserable season that has seen the Dockers plummet to third last on the ladder - a year after they won a minor premiership.

On Sunday, against the Western Bulldogs, the Dockers will farewell long-time captain Matthew Pavlich and there is talk the six-time All-Australian could be followed out the exit door by as many as 12 teammates.

Fan favourite Michael Barlow is out of contract and does not yet have a new deal and there has been growing speculation that livewire small forward Hayden Ballantyne could be headed for a home elsewhere after not getting the length of contract extension he would like.
